Unified FEC for optical lines

Description: This project is to find unified hard input and soft input FEC solution to cover low complexity low power cost and high performance scenario for fiber optic lines. State-of-the-art solutions are generalized error locating (GEL) codes with hard decision decoder and convolutional generalized low-density parity-check (GLDPC-CC) codes with soft decoding. We suggested soft GEL codes as a compromise in between complexity and performance.
